Harvey Englander is the Founding Partner of Englander Knabe & Allen, the largest public affairs and lobbying firm in Southern California.
Harvey is a strategic planner who has created and successfully executed numerous public relations and public affairs campaigns covering a wide variety of industries, from automotive and banking/finance/insurance clients to real estate developers and food and drug companies. Mr. Englander’s expertise includes creating and running political campaigns, developing public affairs campaigns and crisis communications programs for companies and non-profit organizations nationwide.
In 2016 he was named one of the 500 most influential people in the County by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
He formed his first company, The Englander Group in December 1980. Following a series of mergers and acquisitions, in 1999 he subsequently sold his company to The MWW Group, one of the nation’s top fifteen public relations firms, then owned by Interpublic Group.
Under his leadership, the MWW-Los Angeles tripled in size and won numerous national and regional awards. PR News, a leading public relations industry publication, named Englander the 2003 Public Affairs Executive of the Year, Englander left MWW in 2005 when his earn-out was completed and opened an independent public relations and public affairs consulting practice, now known as Englander Knabe & Allen.
Englander is also involved in numerous community activities, including serving on the Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association Los Angeles Chapter and is the co-founder of the ADA’s highly successful “Los Angeles Political Roast.” Harvey also serves on the Board of Directors of the West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation and the Los Angeles City College Foundation.
Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson appointed Englander to the Bi-Partisan California Commission on Internet Political Practices. Supervisor Don Knabe appointed Englander to the Los Angeles County Junior Golf Commission. He is also a founder, member and former President of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Lobbyists & Public Affairs Association.
A UCLA graduate, Englander served on George Washington University’s Council on American Politics and was a board member of the UCLA School of Public Policy.
Mr. Englander is married and the father of four sons, and proud grandfather of three grandsons. He and his wife, Donna Black, a leading land use attorney, divide their time between Beverly Hills and La Quinta.
