Celine M. Cordero
Senior Vice President
Celine Cordero is Senior Vice President at Englander Knabe & Allen and brings over fifteen years of experience in local, state and federal government. Her legal, political and fundraising background brings a vast amount of experience to the firm.
From 2011 to 2013 Celine served as the Director of External Affairs at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) where she was had direct oversight of the community relations and Air Service Development divisions. Before joining LAWA, Celine served in several high-level roles in Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa’s administration (2003-2011). In 2010 Celine was appointed to the position of Deputy Mayor for Legislative and Intergovernmental Relations (LIGR) where she was also a member of the Mayor’s Executive Team. In her role as Deputy Mayor, Celine was responsible for oversight of the Mayor’s local, state and federal legislative agenda as well as city council relations.
Celine also served as the Associate Director of the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Public Safety where she was responsible for implementing the Mayor’s budget and policy initiatives pertaining to LAPD, LAFD and the Emergency Management Department including management of over $340M in federal public safety grants.
In 2005 Celine served as senior fundraiser for the Villaraigosa Mayoral campaign where she directly assisted in raising over $7M in campaign contributions and was responsible for the organization and coordination of over 150 fundraising events throughout the campaign. She also worked as a Legislative Deputy in both Villaraigosa’s LIGR and Council offices.
Prior to working for Mayor Villaraigosa, Celine served as a Judicial Extern for former U.S. District Court Judge Robert M. Takasugi, was a Jesse Marvin Unruh State Assembly Fellow in the office of former Assemblymember Martin Gallegos, served as a TELECU Education Foundation Scholar for United States Senator Tom Harkin, worked for former Long Beach area Congressmember Stephen Horn, and served as a field organizer for the California Democratic Party.
Celine is a 2012 Marshall Memorial Fellow and serves on several civic boards including Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles, Long Beach Museum of Latin American Art and the California State University Long Beach Leadership Resource Center.
A resident of Long Beach, she is a member of the California State Bar and received a B.A. in Political Science from California State University Long Beach, where she was Associated Student Body Vice-President, and a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.
